ABOUT

Known as one of the best restaurants in New York City, Le Coucou was conceived closely alongside Chef Daniel Rose and operator Stephen Starr. The updated fine French cuisine, the considered design, and exquisite service, are all deeply intertwined. The open kitchen, which essentially sits within the dining room, is a theatrical backdrop in the bustling space.

Guests are transported upon entering directly into the cocktail bar, where a J.M.W. Turner-inspired mural was hand-painted across the vaulted arched walls and ceiling. The walls throughout the restaurant were stripped and whitewashed to create a soft texture on the brick.

Found objects received new life: a vintage daybed was reupholstered  in pink mohair, a Swedish credenza was hollowed out and became a fully-functional bar, a salvaged arched door turned into the backdrop for the liquor display. Unusual  3” thick reclaimed marble was used throughout the open kitchen stations, while custom metalwork and millwork can be seen throughout. Monumental custom metal and glass chandeliers hang at varying heights throughout the space, creating a lyrical movement, and bringing the scale down to an intimate level.
