ABOUT
Previously owned by design icon Jenna Lyons, this Brooklyn townhouse was purchased by an equally iconic British synth-pop musician and songwriter, and his wife who co-founded the Museum of Morbid Anatomy. The bones of this house were extraordinary, necessitating design interventions be handled carefully and surgically.
While most of the design was decorative, the Kitchen was completely gutted and replaced with detailed and custom-crafted cabinets, painted in high-gloss paint, and adorned with substantial silver knobs. A banquette was built in the bay window, overlooking the lush rear yard.
Hand-painted wallpaper with blossoming branches wraps the Sitting Room, open to the Bathroom with a prominently featured clawfoot tub. Deeply black painted high-gloss wood flooring helps unify a house with various mis-matched floors. Layers of furniture and objects from various decades and movements create a rich collection that feels like it’s been there forever. A large cabinet of curiosities displays newly sourced objects alongside dark artifacts from the owner’s assemblage of morbid items.
